NEWDownload the Debian/Ubuntu installer for Proto release 7.0

MIT Proto is distributed as source code and built using GNU Automake tools, so it should be usable on any platform with those tools, including Linux, MacOS X, and Windows with CygWin.  It is also available as an in-browser web application, WebProto.

Manuals, tutorials, and other documentation for MIT Proto are included in the distribution.

The releases are checkpoints expected to be fairly stable.  We also make the SVN available for download of the latest version.  If you wish to develop, contact the maintainers at proto-developers@bbn.com

EARLY DISTRIBUTION NOTE: MIT Proto should be considered in a state of "strong alpha" release, containing some serious known bugs and shortcomings.

To get started with Proto, we recommend the Thinking in Proto Tutorial (also available online). For more information about documentation, see the Support page of this site.
